Man in 30s Arrested for Posting Threatening Message About Killing 20 Women at Sillim Station
A man in his 30s who posted a threatening message online saying he would kill 20 women at Sillim Station in Seoul has been arrested by the police.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 20th that Mr. A was urgently detained on charges of intimidation and is currently under investigation.
Mr. A is suspected of posting a threatening message on the internet at around 4:47 p.m. the previous day, stating, "I will kill 20 women at Sillim Station in Seoul." After receiving the report, the police tracked the Internet Protocol (IP) address and urgently arrested Mr. A at his home in Gyeonggi Province that morning.
Mr. A, who has no particular occupation, reportedly told the police during the investigation that he did it because he wanted attention.
The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A. A police official stated, "Posting threatening messages without any sense of guilt, driven by imitation psychology, causes great anxiety among citizens," and added, "We will respond strictly to similar crimes."
