"Like a Prostitute" - Mother Insults Dyed-Haired Daughter... Netizens Outraged
Chinese Woman Uploads Video
Netizens Pour Criticism on Mother
Netizens continue to criticize a mother in China who insulted her daughter, who dyed her hair purple, by saying she looked like a "prostitute."
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 18th, a woman living in Guangdong Province in southern China filmed her mother criticizing her dyed hair, saying it looked like that of a prostitute, and posted the video online.
The woman explained that she usually dyes her hair in ordinary colors, but on this occasion, due to a hairstylist's mistake, her hair was dyed a light purple. When she returned home, her mother saw the hair color and said, "What is that hair color?" and "People will say you look like a prostitute."
In response, the daughter tearfully said, "I don't care how others see me, but you shouldn't speak like that."
She explained the reason for posting the video was "not to criticize my mother, but to tell women to ignore others' narrow judgments and to be courageous," adding, "Just as flowers come in various colors, women should not be limited to only one kind of appearance."
The video spread widely online, receiving about 700,000 'likes' and 90,000 supportive comments.
