'Meet the Future of Fintech' Largest Ever Event
Held at Dongdaemun DDP Until September 1
The global fintech expo, 'Korea Fintech Week 2023,' will open on the 30th at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). It will feature leading domestic fintech companies, financial institutions, related organizations, local governments, and overseas governments and institutions, running until September 1. The theme is ‘The New Wave of Fintech,’ marking the largest scale ever.
At the opening ceremony, domestic and international speakers, including Kim Ju-hyun, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, and Sopnendu Mohanty, CFO of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), will deliver congratulatory remarks and keynote speeches to mark the start of the fintech festival. The speakers will review the growth of the global fintech industry so far and deliver messages forecasting the future of fintech and the financial industry.
Following the opening ceremony, a policy briefing session titled 'Listening to Fintech Policies in 2023' will introduce this year’s fintech-related financial policies. Notably, this year’s policy briefing will include participation from major local governments (Seoul, Busan, Jeonbuk), allowing the sharing of not only policies promoted by financial authorities but also fintech company support programs specialized and provided by each local government.
In the fintech seminar, which involves domestic and international fintech experts and related organizations, in-depth discussions will be held on a total of 12 detailed topics including payment and settlement, security technology, data utilization, collaboration with financial companies, and overseas expansion.
Especially, the 'Joint Fintech Session of Major International Organizations,' involving various international organizations such as the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and International Finance Corporation, is expected to be a great opportunity to share perspectives on global fintech trends and future development directions.
The fintech exhibition hall, where visitors can experience the latest fintech services and explore technology trends, is organized into four spaces: the Fintech Hall, Financial Hall, Cooperation Hall, and Global Hall, with a total of 82 booths and 107 companies and institutions participating. This is the largest scale ever, surpassing the 61 offline booths of last year’s event.
First, in the Fintech Hall, big tech companies providing various financial services such as payment and settlement based on platforms, as well as leading domestic fintech companies in diverse areas including asset management, financial product recommendation and brokerage, simple payment and remittance, financial IT and security technology, and insurtech, will showcase innovative fintech services and technologies.
In the Financial Hall, financial companies including the five major financial holding companies (KB, NH, Shinhan, Woori, Hana), DGB Financial Group, IBK Industrial Bank, and KakaoBank will participate.
Additionally, the Global Hall, created to actively promote overseas expansion and global exchange of fintech companies, will feature booths from the U.S. Embassy in Korea, Australian Embassy in Korea, Hong Kong Investment Promotion Agency, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Singapore and Japan Fintech Associations, among others, introducing their countries’ fintech industries and providing various information such as investment attraction and business consultations.
The Cooperation Hall will include participation from local governments (Seoul, Busan, Jeonbuk), introducing each local government’s fintech support status and promoting incubated companies. Furthermore, related organizations such as the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute, Financial Security Institute, Credit Information Service, fintech labs (Shinhan, Hanwha Life), and universities will participate to serve as cooperation channels with fintech companies.
Moreover, a one-stop export order support consultation booth will be set up to support fintech companies’ entry into overseas markets. Related organizations (KOTRA, Small and Medium Business Corporation, Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, etc.) will introduce overseas expansion support services and provide on-site consultations addressing various difficulties fintech companies face during overseas expansion.
