Gochang-gun Leads Efforts to Improve Welfare Workers' Treatment

On the afternoon of the 18th, Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, announced that it held the "Gochang-gun Social Welfare Workers Meeting" in the situation room on the 2nd floor of the county office to improve the treatment of social welfare workers.

"Improvement of social welfare workers' treatment" is one of the key pledges of Sim Deok-seop, the mayor of Gochang-gun in the 8th local election.

The county has been conducting a "Survey on the Treatment Improvement of Social Welfare Workers" through the Knowledge Industry Research Institute since May to improve the treatment, welfare, and status of social welfare facility workers.

The meeting was attended by Jeong Jae-min, head of the Social Welfare Division of Gochang-gun Office, about 20 members of the Gochang-gun Social Welfare Council (Chairman Jo Sang-bong), and the Social Workers Association (Chairman Jeong Jong-man).

They discussed the current status of wages and working conditions of workers in various social welfare facilities such as elderly, disabled, children, and infants, as well as workers' human rights and morale improvement measures.

The opinions of workers from each facility gathered through the meeting will be used to improve the treatment of social welfare workers in Gochang-gun and to set directions for social welfare policy implementation.

Jeong Jae-min, head of the Social Welfare Division, said, "Through the systematic establishment of welfare policy directions in Gochang-gun, we will effectively respond to changing welfare demands and implement welfare administration that residents can empathize with and feel by investigating the actual conditions and improving the treatment of frontline social welfare workers."
