"In September, pretty flowers bloom here. They are red flowers, and their flower language means 'unfulfilled love'." This is what a child said after seeing the guide sign installed along the Metasequoia Road in World Cup Park.
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) has completed the creation of the 'Nanji Themed Tourism Forest Trail' in World Cup Park and will announce its opening with a completion ceremony on the 18th.
The 'Nanji Themed Tourism Forest Trail' is a specialized street decorated along the Metasequoia Road in Sky Park of World Cup Park. Since April, the district has planted a total of 370,000 herbaceous plants of 11 species including red spider lilies, Lycoris, and Liriope muscari along this section.
The planted herbaceous plants have various blooming periods and flower colors, so from now on, visitors will be able to enjoy unique flowers throughout all four seasons even in the city.
Along the road, 50 poems selected by the Mapo Cultural Center and Mapo Writers' Association are exhibited, naming the area 'Poet's Street.' A photo zone has been installed for photography, and a 'Whispering Path' paved with coconut mats has been created so that visitors can comfortably walk barefoot while chatting.
At 6 p.m. on the 18th, the district will hold a completion ceremony for the 'Nanji Themed Tourism Forest Trail' on the completed Metasequoia Road with about 400 residents, watching a video documenting the project process to commemorate the opening of the forest trail.
Following the ceremony, the second part of the event will feature a 'Forest Concert' composed of a string quartet and vocal performances, offering a relaxing healing time to the residents visiting the Nanji Themed Tourism Forest Trail.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "It is deeply moving that Nanji Island, which used to be a garbage dump, has transformed into a place where flowers bloom all year round and poetry flows." He added, "In the busy city life, this place serves as a resting and recharging spot, carrying the meaningful message of 'Nanji Island's beautiful transformation.' We will carefully maintain it so that many people can visit and enjoy it."
The district expects the flowers to be in full bloom between September and October and plans to hold various festivals and events to develop the Nanji Themed Tourism Forest Trail into a new tourist attraction in Mapo.
