Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly to Propose Raising Youth Age Range to '19-39'... Review Scheduled for Next Month
The Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly is pushing to expand the youth age range from '19-34 years old' to '19-39 years old.'
On the 17th, the Gyeonggi Assembly announced the legislative notice for the 'Partial Amendment to the Gyeonggi-do Youth Basic Ordinance' proposed by Assemblyman Kim Do-hoon (People Power Party, proportional representation).
Assemblyman Kim Do-hoon stated, "Due to the effects of low birth rates and aging population, local governments are raising the age criteria to expand the beneficiaries of youth support measures. Since most youth projects implemented in Gyeonggi-do are also targeted at those aged 39 and under, it is necessary to expand the upper age limit for youth to 39 to promote unified operation of youth policies."
He added, "In particular, regarding the nationwide support project for a 300,000 KRW deposit guarantee fee to protect youth from jeonse fraud, which has been implemented since the end of last month, only youths defined by local ordinances are eligible, so youths aged 35-39 in Gyeonggi-do were excluded. If the ordinance is amended, they will also be able to receive benefits."
