Sung-Hyun Cho, President of HL Mando, Promoted to Vice Chairman
HL Group announced on the 17th that Cho Seong-hyun, Senior President of HL Mando, has been promoted to Vice Chairman.
This is the first Vice Chairman promotion at HL Group in eight years. Hong Seok-hwa, President of the construction affiliate HL D&I Hanla (Head of the Construction Sector), has been appointed Senior President. The company explained that this personnel change is "to boldly overcome the era of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity, and to fully activate CEO responsibility management."
The newly appointed Vice Chairman Cho has been serving as Head of the Automotive Sector and CEO of HL Mando since December 2021. He oversees the company's three main business units: Brake, Steering, and Suspension. He also manages the automotive system parts manufacturing and research sector, including HL Clemoove, a specialized autonomous driving company, and Mando Brose, a motor manufacturing specialist.
As an engineer, he mainly handled overseas sales in the US and Germany. To prepare for the software-defined vehicle (SDV) era, he established a software organization in 2021. Vice Chairman Cho is also leading the development of the autonomous parking robot that HL Mando is currently pursuing.
Senior President Hong was appointed CEO of HL D&I Hanla in October last year. He oversees the construction affiliates Mokpo New Port Operation, HL Ecotec, and HL Logis & Co. Chairman Chung Mong-won of HL Group also stepped down as an inside director of HL D&I to fully delegate authority to Senior President Hong.
