"Elegant Italian Piemonte Wine"... Jaspero 'Pico Macario'
Participation in the '2023 Global Wine and Food Trip'
Featuring Talonino, Pierre Chavin, Castel d'Or, Berum, and more
Hosted by Asia Economy, the '2023 Global Wine and Food Trip' will be held on August 25-26 at the Sebitseom Floating Island in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The event will feature major domestic wine importers and food companies, providing an opportunity to taste a variety of regional wines and enjoy food pairings.
Jaspero will focus on introducing Old World European wines from Italy, Spain, and France at this event, including ‘Pico Maccario’, ‘Tarongino’, ‘Pierre Chavin’, Castell D’or, and Verum.
The flagship product is the Pico Maccario wine from Piemonte, Italy. The winery was established in 1997 by brothers Pico and Vitaliano Maccario and is located in Monferrato Astigiano, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2014. It owns 100 hectares (ha) of land, cultivating Barbera grapes on 80ha and various international and indigenous grape varieties on the remaining area.
Among these, ‘Rosato Lavignone’ is a ros? wine made from 100% Barbera grapes, harmonizing elegant and rich floral aromas with sweet fruit scents. Its silky smooth texture and acidity achieve a perfect balance, with the freshest and richest flavors best enjoyed at 8-10°C. In addition to Barbera, you can also taste 'Estrosa Viognier', made from 100% Viognier grapes. This wine has a pale golden straw color and features delicate and rich floral notes. Fully ripened grapes are harvested, briefly macerated, pressed, and fermented with yeast in stainless steel tanks.
Bodega Verum will also showcase 'Petit Verum'. Petit Verum is a ruby-colored wine made from 100% Tempranillo grapes that captivates with its vibrant color. It offers aromas centered on ripe berries, plums, and red currants, along with nutty flavors. Its soft tannins and pleasant finish are additional strengths.
Bodega Verum is a traditional winery producing wine and spirits since 1788, with 'Verum' meaning 'truth' in Latin. Given its long history, most of its vines are old vines over 50 years old, and the winery employs a unique winemaking method by aging wine in clay amphorae. The winery cultivates various grape varieties including Spain’s representative Tempranillo, Air?n, and Tinto Velasco. It owns five vineyards across 250ha, all farmed organically.
