South Australian Riesling and Egon Muller’s 'Kanta' Also Revealed
Hosted by Asia Economy, the '2023 Global Wine and Food Trip' will be held on August 25-26 at the Sebitseom Floating Island in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Major domestic wine importers and food companies will participate, providing an opportunity to taste a variety of regional wines and enjoy food pairings. At this event, the wine importer ‘OneOne’ plans to showcase premium wines from Italy and Australia.
The flagship wine is ‘Locca del Principe Piano di Avellino D.O.C.G (FIANO DI AVELLINO D.O.C.G)’. Produced by Locca del Principe, a family-run winery in the Campania region of southern Italy, Piano di Avellino D.O.C.G is a white wine made from 100% Fiano grapes with an alcohol content of 13%. It features elegant floral and fruit aromas and, since it is not oak-aged, offers a vivid tropical fruit flavor profile including pineapple and mango. Fiano, the representative grape variety of the Campania region, is characterized by strong tropical fruit flavors like pineapple and mango and high acidity.
Locca del Principe is a noble winery with a long tradition and history even within Italy, adhering to traditional production methods and family philosophy, producing only small quantities of wine to preserve the vineyard’s unique flavors. The winery is located in Lapio, the most famous area for producing Piano di Avellino, and primarily cultivates the white grape variety Fiano and the red grape Aglianico. Situated at an altitude of 500-600 meters near Pompeii, the vineyard’s volcanic soil imparts a distinctive flavor and minerality that sets it apart from typical Italian white wines.
Locca del Principe’s ‘Aglianico Irpinia D.O.C (AGLIANICO IRPINIA D.O.C)’ will also be presented. This wine starts with fresh dark red fruit aromas such as blackberry and plum, followed by complex secondary and tertiary notes of spices and herbs. It is characterized by a rich body and smooth finish with a long-lasting aftertaste, and it is suitable for long-term aging. It pairs well with all foods, especially meat dishes.
From the Adelaide Hills region of Australia, the ‘Kanta Egon Muller Riesling’ will also be showcased. Made from 100% Riesling by the renowned German winemaker Egon Muller, this wine features citrus, orange, and grapefruit aromas complemented by soft tropical fruit notes. With delicate acidity, complex aromas, and a light body, it is an excellent aperitif that stimulates the appetite. The alcohol content is 13%.
