'E Grade' Bundang Sunaegyo Bridge, Traffic Ban from 10 PM on the 14th
From 10 PM on the 14th, the Sunnaegyo Bridge in Bundang, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, has been completely closed to traffic.
Seongnam City announced on the 15th that following an emergency detailed safety inspection conducted after the collapse accident on Jeongjagyo pedestrian bridge, Sunnaegyo Bridge will be fully closed to traffic starting from 10 PM on the 14th. Accordingly, Seongnam City recommended that citizens use detour routes such as Seohyeongyo or Baekhyeongyo bridges.
Earlier, in May, Seongnam City initiated a detailed safety inspection service for Sunnaegyo Bridge and conducted the inspection over two months.
The detailed safety inspection resulted in an E grade rating, and according to Article 23 (Emergency Safety Measures) of the Special Act on the Safety and Maintenance of Facilities, an emergency usage restriction was immediately imposed, and comprehensive measures including repair and reinforcement plans will be reviewed.
An E grade is assigned when serious defects occur in major components, posing a safety risk to the facility, requiring immediate prohibition of use and reinforcement or reconstruction.
Sunnaegyo Bridge was rated at this grade because it failed to secure the safety factor in safety evaluation items assessed through structural analysis and load testing.
