70s Driver Arrest Warrant for Causing Death of 2 Pedestrians at 120 km/h
No Vehicle Defects Found According to National Forensic Service Investigation Results
A vehicle driven by a driver in their 70s struck and killed two teenagers walking by the roadside.
The Chungbuk Eumseong Police Department announced on the 11th that they have requested an arrest warrant for a man in his 70s, identified as A, on charges of causing death by traffic accident (under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling) after hitting and killing two teenage pedestrians.
A is accused of consecutively hitting and killing B (14) and C (17), who were walking on the sidewalk at an intersection in Gamgok-myeon, Eumseong-gun, with his SM3 passenger car on May 5.
At the time, A’s vehicle rushed toward them at a speed of 120 km/h and only stopped after crashing into a utility pole following the accident.

A reportedly told the police, "I do not remember the accident itself."
The National Forensic Service recently examined the brake pedal operation and the possibility of sudden unintended acceleration in A’s vehicle and informed the police that no defects were found.

A police official stated, "The National Forensic Service’s investigation results were essential to determine A’s charges, which delayed the case processing," and added, "The case will be forwarded to the prosecution soon."
