Kyung Hee University Opens Registration for the 25th World Foreigners Korean Speaking Contest Participation
Application Submission Deadline Until the 1st of Next Month
The 'World Foreigners Korean Speaking Contest' will be held at the Crown Hall of Kyung Hee University (President Han Gyuntae) in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul.

View original imageAccording to Kyung Hee University on the 11th, the Kyung Hee University Institute of International Education (Director Kim Joongsup) and Yonhap News Agency will jointly host the '25th World Foreigners Korean Speaking Contest' on October 19.
This contest has been held annually since 1998 to commemorate the birthday of King Sejong the Great (May 15) with the purpose of creating a platform for global communication in Korean. Despite the challenging domestic and international circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the 24th speaking contest was held offline, attracting participants from 34 countries who demonstrated great interest and passion for the Korean language and culture.
The themes for this year's contest are 'Korean Expressions That AI Cannot Replace' and 'Sharing Tips for Living in Korea.' Any foreigner who can speak Korean may choose one of the themes to apply. Applications are open until the 1st of next month. The preliminary rounds will be held over two days starting from the 13th of next month.

In the finals, one grand prize winner (1.5 million KRW), two excellence award winners (1 million KRW each), three special award winners (800,000 KRW each), and three merit award winners (500,000 KRW each) will receive certificates and prize money. Detailed information can be found on the Kyung Hee University Institute of International Education Speaking Contest website. Applicants must submit their scripts along with their applications, and submissions are accepted online only.
