[Tok! Appliances] Fans That Slash Electricity Bills Amid Heatwave
Shinil Electronics' 'BLDC Fan' Popularity
Demand for fans is increasing due to record-breaking heat and rising electricity rates. Compared to air conditioners, fans use relatively less electricity and can be placed in each room, making them popular.
According to Shinil Electronics, the shipment value of fans from July 17 to August 7 this year increased by about 22% compared to the same period last year. The demand for fans rose due to forecasts of continued late summer heat, and sales increased as premium fan sales grew.
In particular, the popularity of Shinil Electronics' 'BLDC fan,' introduced nationwide at Emart stores since May, stands out. It has recorded sales of around 40,000 units so far, showing strong performance. Shinil's BLDC fan is a premium line product with an average price of about 130,000 KRW. Despite being expensive for a fan, it has received positive responses due to its low power consumption and high efficiency.
Shinil explained that based on over 60 years of accumulated know-how and technology, they equipped the fan with a high-efficiency BLDC motor optimized for fans. This is to create strong and delicate airflow with low power consumption. The power consumption in ECO mode operation is low, around 1.77 to 5.72W. It also offers up to 12 levels of wind speed control, making it suitable for long-term use. Additionally, it produces low noise so as not to disturb deep sleep.
