Listens to Work Difficulties through a Meeting with Civil Service Staff
"Hello. How can I assist you?"
This was the greeting delivered by Kim Mi-kyung, Eunpyeong District Mayor, as she welcomed civil petitioners at the civil service passport department counter at the district office on the 9th.
To encourage staff who work hard handling civil service tasks on the front lines, Eunpyeong District arranged for the mayor to personally experience civil service work.
On this day, Mayor Kim wore her official ID badge around her neck and sat at the civil service counter, transforming into a civil service officer. Before starting the official civil service tasks, she received training from the staff on how to respond to petitioners and the procedures for handling civil petitions.
Mayor Kim personally attended to petitioners, performing various civil service tasks ranging from marriage registration processing to issuing resident registration certificates and passports. While communicating with several petitioners on site, she also sought to understand the difficulties faced by staff due to civil service work.
After completing the one-day civil service officer experience, Mayor Kim held a meeting with civil service officers. The meeting was attended by 10 civil service staff members from various fields including community center employees, architecture, welfare, real estate information, and sports for all. This was the second meeting with civil service officers following the one held in February.
Mayor Kim met with the civil service officers to listen to various civil service issues and difficulties and engaged in open discussions. The attendees actively presented diverse opinions on matters that need improvement in work processing. Together with the mayor, they took time to consider ways to enhance civil service.
Additionally, at this meeting, awards were presented to three departments and districts that showed excellent performance in the legally mandated civil petition processing time reduction evaluation, to boost morale in the civil service departments.
