‘Upgraded’ Hanwha Classic... Total Prize Money Increased to 1.7 Billion Won

The Hanwha Classic, the first major tournament of the second half of the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, has increased its total prize money by 300 million KRW.
The tournament organizing committee announced on the 9th, "This year marks the 12th edition of the tournament, and the total prize money has been increased from 1.4 billion KRW last year to 1.7 billion KRW," adding, "This is the first increase in prize money since the tournament was elevated to a KLPGA Tour major in 2017, after six years." The event will be held over four days starting on the 24th at Jade Palace Golf Club in Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do. The winner's prize has also increased from 252 million KRW to 306 million KRW. The defending champion is Hong Ji-won.

Hanwha Solutions Q CELLS Division, the event organizer, is a leading company in the global renewable energy industry. Last year, it became the first domestic official sports event to receive the ‘Event Sustainability Management System (ISO20121)’ certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). CEO Lee Gu-young stated, "We have high expectations for the world-class players participating in the Hanwha Classic and the level of performance they will demonstrate," and added, "We will continue to strive to share future values befitting a tournament certified with ISO."
