Kim Ki-hyun: "Lee Jae-myung Uses Children as Political Agitation Vanguard... Child Abuse"
Democratic Party Sparks Controversy by Allowing Elementary Students to Attend Contaminated Water Meeting
Representative Kim Ki-hyun: "It's Despicable... Something That Could Only Happen in North Korea"
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, strongly criticized Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, on the 9th for involving elementary school students in the previous day's 'Meeting to Prevent the Ocean Dumping of Fukushima Contaminated Water,' calling the Democratic Party's child abuse "low" for using the human rights of 6- to 8-year-old children as kindling for 'professional politicians.'
In a post on his Facebook that day, Kim said, "Lee showed a low and shameless appearance by putting young elementary school children at the forefront of the 'political agitation by opposition politicians,'" adding, "The scene where young elementary students were introduced as 'activists' playing the role of kindling in the Democratic Party's political struggle was dizzying."

The day before, the Democratic Party held a 'Meeting of Child and Youth Caregivers to Prevent Illegal Ocean Dumping of Fukushima Contaminated Water,' introducing not only high school students but also elementary school students as activists during the meeting.
Kim criticized, "They even claim to be a party that respects cows that died in floods, but is it acceptable to put 6- to 8-year-old children, whose political judgment is still immature, forward as Red Guards like this?" and said, "This constitutes child abuse." He added, "The Democratic Party's moral insensitivity, hypocrisy, and pretense, continuing from Kim Eun-kyung, Yang Yi-won-young, Lee Rae-kyung, Cho Kuk, Yoon Mi-hyang, Kim Nam-guk, and others, seem endless," and said, "Using children as tools for political agitation is something that would only happen in extreme totalitarian states that mobilize children for leader idolization and regime propaganda."

He said, "This is what the Workers' Party of Korea in North Korea does, but the vast majority of political parties in the Republic of Korea are doing it," and urged, "Lee and the Democratic Party must immediately apologize to the public for this uneducational and inhumane act of using children as tools for political propaganda and agitation."
