Gyeonggawon Urges Caution Against Fraudulent Mail Pretending to Support Businesses
Mail sent to companies under the name of Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business SOS Support Center
View original imageThe Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency has issued a warning regarding mail falsely claiming to be from the 'Enterprise SOS Center,' which handles business support consultations within the province.
The agency reported on the 9th that it received a notice from a company labeled as 'Second Half Personal Business Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund Support Guide,' sent by an entity called the 'Small and Medium Enterprise SOS Support Center.' The mail encouraged recipients to apply for funds via fax without providing any contact information. However, the agency clarified that it did not send such mail.
They added that it is very rare for public institutions to send fund application notices by mail.
A representative from the agency stated, "Phishing cases impersonating public institutions have been increasing recently," and added, "We will strengthen preventive guidance activities to ensure no victims occur."
After receiving reports, the agency immediately notified the police and posted popup warnings on business support sites such as Enterprise SOS Net. Additionally, they sent phishing caution emails to 220,000 member companies and are actively working to prevent any damage.
