Mokwon University to Establish and Operate 'Autonomous Driving Department' Next Year
Mokwon University will establish and operate a new ‘Department of Autonomous Driving’ starting next year.
The Mokwon University Work-Learning Dual System Project Group announced on the 7th that it has been finally selected as an operating institution for the ‘Work-Learning Dual System Career Development Advancement (Bachelor’s Degree Transfer Program) Pilot Project’ organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, and will establish and operate the ‘Department of Autonomous Driving’ from the first semester of next year.
The pilot project is implemented to support the development of core talents in companies and the systematic career development of work-learning workers.
Work-learning workers employed at companies will be able to complete regular academic credits (earn degrees) by attending practical training courses at the company on weekdays and major classes at the university on weekends for two years through the project. Tuition fees will be covered by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The Department of Autonomous Driving at Mokwon University will be newly established as a contract department for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). SME contract departments have the advantage of establishing degree programs at universities based on industry demand, enhancing the capabilities of SME workers while supporting degree acquisition. It is also characterized by being operated as a talent development program following the employment-first, education-later approach.
The admission target for the Department of Autonomous Driving is work-learning workers who have obtained an associate degree through the Work-Learning Dual System (P-TECH) and are employed at companies.
In addition to the Department of Autonomous Driving, Mokwon University plans to continuously expand contract departments customized to the demand for professional personnel in companies.
