Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min stated on the 6th regarding the '2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree' that "since the government decided to provide full support, the situation has gradually stabilized." However, he announced that the K-pop concert scheduled for that night would be postponed for safety reasons.

View original imageAt 11 a.m. that day, Minister Lee held a press conference at the Jamboree Press Center in Buan, Jeonbuk, saying, "The central government, local governments, the military, and the private sector are working together to resolve the participants' difficulties one by one."
Currently, in addition to the existing organizing committee, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency, the military, police, and fire departments are providing additional government equipment and personnel support at the Jamboree site.
First, regarding the heatwave, Minister Lee announced that 262 air-conditioned buses are being operated to help participants cool down. Shuttle buses within the camp have also been doubled to a total of 24, running at intervals of about 10 minutes, and the military has installed 69 additional shade tents throughout the camp. Additionally, eight water play facilities have been installed across four hubs.
To maintain cleanliness of restrooms and shower rooms, 930 additional cleaning staff have been deployed, totaling about 1,400 personnel managing the facilities. Bottled water is being distributed at five bottles per person per day. Sixteen refrigerated trucks are in operation, and the staff dining hall operates 24 hours a day.
Electricity supply capacity has also been expanded, with lighting installed on the floor of the vine tunnel and 330 additional streetlights installed. Two hundred large fans have been distributed.
Support from private companies and other local governments has continued as well. Private companies have sponsored 1.68 million bottles of bottled water and ion drinks, along with 10,000 insect repellents. Other local governments have provided 50 portable toilets and seven roll boxes.
However, for safety reasons, the K-pop concert scheduled for that night has been postponed.
Minister Lee said, "We must not be complacent about safety issues, so we have decided to postpone the Saemangeum K-pop concert scheduled for tonight. We will do our best to ensure that the K-pop concert can be enjoyed in a more comfortable and safe venue."

Meanwhile, the government is preparing tourism programs with the cooperation of 17 metropolitan and provincial local governments. A total of 90 tourism programs nationwide will be additionally prepared, and the operation of tourism programs will begin as soon as the schedule is coordinated with the Scout Association.
