From the 2nd to the 10th, a total of 2,880 Jamboree participants from 33 countries are visiting the 119 Safety Experience Center over eight days.

They are receiving education on how to respond to disasters and crisis situations by directly experiencing three types of programs prepared at the center.

In detail, the comprehensive disaster experience includes indoor fire extinguisher training, earthquake simulation, and typhoon simulation, where participants learn how to respond to disaster situations.

Additionally, three programs are operated to enhance the safety awareness of Scout participants: a crisis escape experience where they learn life-saving methods through virtual disaster situations such as aircraft safety experience and emergency descent device training; and a water play safety experience that improves crisis response skills for accidents that may occur during water activities such as ship escape, rapid current accidents, and drowning incidents.

The county has established an on-site situation room within the experience center and deployed medical personnel and volunteers to be fully prepared for any emergency situations to ensure smooth operation of the off-site programs.

With cooperation from the Imsil Fire Station and Imsil Police Station, ambulances and on-site patrol personnel have been deployed, and 18 interpretation volunteers ranging from university students to professors and public institution employees are supporting the safety experience activities despite the heatwave.

Furthermore, 128 volunteers, including members of the Imsil County Volunteer Fire Brigade, are encouraging and cheering the participants at each experience site with phrases like “Nice Guy,” “Good Job!,” “This Way,” and “Hello” while sweating profusely under the heat exceeding 34 degrees Celsius.

Governor Shim Min visited the 119 Safety Experience Center on the day to welcome the Scout participants visiting Imsil-gun and to encourage the staff and volunteers operating the programs.

On the same day, in consultation with the Jamboree organizers, snacks such as Imsil cheese yogurt and cheese cookies were provided to the Scout participants who were exhausted from camping and battling the heatwave, conveying the warm heart of Imsil-gun.

The Jamboree participants expressed their gratitude for properly learning disaster response skills essential for Scouts and for the taste of Imsil cheese, which can only be experienced in Korea, as well as for the thoughtful care from Imsil-gun.

Governor Shim Min said, “We welcome all Scout Jamboree participants visiting Imsil-gun from all over the world,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure the smooth operation of the Jamboree off-site programs so that you can safely enjoy and take home wonderful memories.”
