Leader of Japan's ruling coalition to revisit China visit later this month... Requests meeting with Xi Jinping
Yamaguchi Natsuo, leader of Komeito, the ruling coalition party in Japan, is planning to visit China around the end of this month, local media reported on the 3rd.
Yamaguchi is scheduled to visit China from the 28th to the 30th and is reported to have requested a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping during this period. This will be Yamaguchi's first visit to China in four years since August 2019.
He is expected to discuss improving Sino-Japanese relations, which have worsened due to the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean and the territorial dispute over the Senkaku Islands (known as Diaoyu Islands in China).
