Seoul International Harmonica Festival Opens on the 4th at Gwanghwamun
The 9th Seoul International Harmonica Festival will be held from the 4th to the 6th around Gwanghwamun in Seoul. The Seoul International Harmonica Festival was organized to enhance the status of Korean harmonica music and promote its development.
During the festival, a gala concert will be held every day at 7:30 PM (7 PM on the 6th) at the playground in Gwanghwamun Square.
On the first day, the 4th, there will be an opening celebration parade performance featuring pungmul performers and a marching band, followed by a performance by the Korea Harmonica Orchestra. On the 5th, a peace concert by world-renowned harmonica players will be presented, and on the final day of the festival, a crossover concert will take place. Performers active in various genres of contemporary music such as jazz, classical, and pop music will present a stage where they communicate with performers from other genres.
The Seoul International Harmonica Festival competition program will be held on the 5th and 6th at the Sejong Arts Academy, divided into a total of nine categories: gospel solo, chromatic solo, jazz solo, blues solo, duo, trio, ensemble, small group, and large group. The awards ceremony will be held at 6 PM on the 6th at the playground in Gwanghwamun Square.

An open stage that all festival participants can enjoy will also be prepared, and inside Gwanghwamun Station, a harmonica clinic and exhibition for general citizens who are not familiar with the harmonica will continue. At the Sejong Arts Academy, in addition to the competition program, a masterclass will be held where world-class harmonica players share their playing know-how and experiences.
