View original imageDue to the endemic impact, the number of people purchasing travel products through online shopping has significantly increased compared to the previous year.
According to Statistics Korea's 'June 2023 Online Shopping Trends' released on the 1st, the online shopping transaction amount in June was 18.4249 trillion won, an increase of 1.3202 trillion won compared to one year ago. This is the highest level since the related statistics were reorganized in 2017.
When classifying online shopping transaction amounts by product category, travel and transportation service transactions amounted to 1.9692 trillion won, up 30.4% (458.7 billion won) from the previous year. It accounted for the third largest share (11.0%) of online shopping transaction amounts. In addition, consumption of food and beverages (14.8%) and e-coupon services (46.7%) also increased. In particular, e-coupon service transaction amounts surged by 46.7% (233.5 billion won) year-on-year to 734 billion won, which is analyzed to be due to increased usage locations such as coffee and coupons.

Mobile shopping transaction amounts reached 13.4449 trillion won, up 5.8% (736.6 billion won) compared to the same month last year. The sector with the highest share of mobile transaction amounts is food services at 98.3%, followed by children and infant products at 81.2%, and pet products at 80.7%. The share of mobile transactions in total online shopping transaction amounts was 73.0%, down 1.3 percentage points from the same month last year.
