Gwangju Science Museum's 'Star Observation Theme Fam Tour' Successfully Concluded
The National Gwangju Science Museum successfully conducted a fam tour for the 'Star Observation Theme Tour Program.'
On the 1st, the Gwangju Science Museum announced that it had completed the tour program by inviting 19 people, including SNS reporters and families interested in science and travel, from the 29th to 30th of last month.
As part of the 'Linking Science and Technology with Regional Tourism Projects,' it was promoted in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization and Sinan County.
This special event combined the excellent astronomical observation educational content of the Gwangju Science Museum with the beautiful natural resources of Jeollanam-do.
On the first day, participants observed the sun during the day at the Gwangju Science Museum Starlight Observatory and had time to preview the constellations decorating the summer night sky through videos at the planetarium.
Afterwards, they moved to Jaeun Island in Sinan County, known as one of the best places for astronomical observation in Korea due to low light pollution, experienced the mobile science museum installed on site, and learned how to operate telescopes and about the summer night sky constellations.
After sunset, they moved to a nearby beach and enjoyed a rare experience of observing the pouring stars, constellations, and the beautiful moon for about two hours with explanations from the science museum’s astronomy research experts.
On the following day, they moved to Purple Island, a representative tourist destination of Sinan County, gathered in small groups, and fully immersed themselves in the purple spectacle, temporarily forgetting the busy city and enjoying healing.
The Gwangju Science Museum Lucesta, Korea Tourism Organization Gabom Reporter Group, Gwangju Tourism Foundation, and Sinan County supporters will produce travel review content from this trip to introduce Sinan County’s tourism programs, which boast pristine natural landscapes.
A student who participated in the fam tour said, “This experience of observing the night sky constellations on the beach with expert explanations is something I will never forget,” and added, “I hope many people can enjoy this unique tour program that blends science and romance.”
Jeon Tae-ho, Acting Director of the Gwangju Science Museum, said, “We are pleased to conduct this star observation program in Sinan County, which has a pristine natural environment,” and added, “We will operate a program that satisfies participants of all ages by reflecting the opinions collected during the fam tour.”
