National Defense Committee of the National Assembly to Hold Inquiry on Corporal Chaesu-geun's Death Incident on the 25th of Next Month
The ruling and opposition parties will hold a National Assembly Defense Committee meeting on the 25th of next month to conduct urgent inquiries related to the death of the late Corporal Chae Su-geun.
An official from the National Assembly Defense Committee stated, "There will be questions regarding Corporal Chae's death incident during the full Defense Committee meeting that day," adding, "However, it is uncertain whether it will be classified as an issue requiring a report from the Ministry of National Defense."
Corporal Chae went missing on the morning of the 19th while searching for a missing person in Naeseongcheon, Yecheon, and was swept away by a rapid current and died. After the accident, controversy arose over the fact that Corporal Chae conducted the search without wearing at least basic safety equipment such as a life jacket.
