Hampyeong-gun Distributes Safety Life Jackets to Workers Vulnerable to Flood Damage
225 Watergate Managers Supplied... Safety Equipment Support Plan for Vulnerable Groups
Hampyeong-gun has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of workers engaged in flood-prone tasks.
On the 27th, according to the county, the Safety Management Division distributed life jackets to 225 sluice gate operators.
Currently, there are a total of 225 sluice gate operators in the county: 166 belonging to the Safety Management Division and the Construction and Transportation Division, and 59 belonging to the Korea Rural Community Corporation Hampyeong Branch.
Following the tragic death of a sluice gate operator during last month's heavy rain warning, the county swiftly moved to distribute life jackets to sluice gate operators, who are vulnerable to flood-related tasks, in order to protect residents' lives and prevent safety accidents.
Lee Sang-ik, the county governor, stated, “We will provide disaster supplies and improve disaster response manuals to protect the safety of our residents. We will also strengthen collaboration with related agencies such as the police and fire stations to establish a comprehensive safety network for our residents in preparation for disasters.”

Meanwhile, the Hampyeong County Council is in the process of enacting related ordinances to create a safe environment for vulnerable groups such as seniors aged 65 and over and people with disabilities. After the ordinance is enacted, Hampyeong-gun plans to actively support residents by providing safety equipment such as life jackets and fire prevention firefighting facilities.
