Fire at Hapcheon Pig Farm... Estimated 1,160 Pigs Dead

At around 2:35 PM on the 26th, a fire broke out at a pig farm in Myosan-myeon, Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam, burning down the livestock buildings and about 1,000 pigs.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, upon receiving a report of flames visible in the pigsty building, 92 firefighters were dispatched, and 19 pieces of equipment including fire trucks and water tanks were used to extinguish the fire.
As the flames grew, Fire Response Level 1 was issued at around 2:49 PM, but it was lifted at 3:03 PM after the major fire was brought under control, and the firefighting was completed at around 3:26 PM.
A fire department official estimated that 5 out of 7 livestock buildings were burned in the fire, and approximately 1,160 pigs, including sows and piglets, died.

The fire and police authorities plan to determine the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage through on-site investigation and inspection.
