As announced, Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has filed a lawsuit against Kumho Construction, the contractor of Jeongjagyo Bridge along the Bundang Tancheon Stream, seeking damages for the bridge collapse accident.
Seongnam City announced on the 25th that on the 21st, it filed a lawsuit at the Suwon District Court Seongnam Branch against Kumho Construction, the contractor, claiming part of the damages incurred from measures such as jack support and PC box installation, as well as demolition and reconstruction efforts following the Jeongjagyo Bridge collapse accident on April 5.
Seongnam City also added that there were construction defects during the Jeongjagyo Bridge construction process, including the length and splicing method of the cantilever section rebar anchorage and defects in the concrete pouring process of the cantilever section.
Earlier, on the 14th, Seongnam City applied for evidence preservation at the Suwon District Court Seongnam Branch, stating that waiting until the scheduled date for evidence investigation would make it impossible or difficult to investigate the evidence, and to expedite the court's appraisal of the cause of the Jeongjagyo Bridge collapse.
