Coupang Reports CJ Olive Young to Fair Trade Commission for "Blocking Coupang Transactions by Abusing Power Over Suppliers"
On the 24th, Coupang announced that it reported CJ Olive Young to the Fair Trade Commission for violating the Large-Scale Distribution Business Act.
Coupang claimed, "Olive Young has regarded Coupang as a competitor and has continuously engaged in 'gapjil'?abusing power?against powerless small and medium suppliers for years to block Coupang's supply and transactions in order to hinder its entry and growth in the beauty market."
It added, "Many suppliers gave up doing business with Coupang due to pressure from CJ Olive Young, and for this reason, Coupang suffered significant damage by not being able to receive competitive products from suppliers, which led to the decision to file the report."
Coupang stated, "Despite the ongoing investigation by the Fair Trade Commission for violations of the Large-Scale Distribution Business Act due to Olive Young recently forcing suppliers not to supply products to competing businesses, Olive Young continues to engage in violations of the Large-Scale Distribution Business Act."
