According to MBC and JTBC on the 22nd, a woman in her 30s, Ms. A, boarded the city bus number 4212, which runs between Sinsa-dong in Gangnam-gu and Gwangjin-gu and Seocho-gu in Seoul, on the morning of the 17th to go to work.
However, just as Ms. A was about to pay the fare, her transportation card suddenly did not work.
Ms. A frantically searched her bag and pockets but could not find another card, and was at a loss. Then, the bus driver, Mr. Song Jae-il, reassured her by saying, "It's okay. Just ride," putting her at ease.
Mr. Song said, "In such cases, the rule is to ask the passenger to get off, but I didn’t want to put the passenger in a difficult situation during the crowded and busy morning commute."
Ms. A thanked him, and even as she got off, she expressed her gratitude again. Mr. Song also said goodbye, saying, "See you again."
But two days later, Mr. Song was surprised. An anonymous package arrived at the bus company addressed to him, containing 10 boxes of beverages. It came with a short handwritten note saying, "Thank you for your kindness."
Mr. Song said, "There was no phone number or name on the gift," and added, "Ten boxes mean 300 drinks, enough for all our union members," expressing his surprise at the unexpected gift.
