Establishment of Basic Plan to Prevent Youth Population Outflow and Develop Customized Policies

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that on the 19th, it held a kickoff meeting for the establishment of the basic plan and implementation plan for youth policy at the Communication Maru of the county office.

This meeting was prepared to actively respond to the decline in regional vitality and the vulnerable population structure phenomenon due to the decrease in the youth population.

To this end, about 30 people attended, including Governor Lee Sang-cheol, the deputy governor, the county council chairman, county council members, members of the Youth Policy Committee, professors from Jeonnam Science University, senior researchers from the Gwangju-Jeonnam Research Institute, the president of the Youth Federation, and representatives of cooperatives.

The county plans to establish a five-year basic plan for youth policy and an annual implementation plan through this research project.

The main contents of the plan include the basic status of youth, setting directions and suggestions for youth policy through analysis of actual conditions and characteristics, collecting opinions for promoting youth population inflow policies, deriving policy tasks to prevent youth outflow in response to population decline, and discovering customized regional specialized youth policies for Gokseong-gun.

The research agency will analyze the current status and characteristics of youth by December, collect opinions from experts and local youth, and establish the plan based on the results.

Governor Lee Sang-cheol said, “We will do our best to develop a feasible strategic youth policy reflecting the unique regional characteristics of Gokseong-gun to prevent the outflow of the youth population and inject vitality into the region.”
