Namyangju Chinese Mother and Daughter Murder Suspect Arrested... "Only One Month After Moving In" Residents Stirred
Man in His 50s Arrested by Police
A man in his 50s who killed a mother and daughter in a villa in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, and fled was arrested by the police.
On the 21st, the Namyangju Southern Police Station announced that they apprehended a man in his 50s, Mr. A, in Boryeong, Chungnam, at around 10:50 a.m. on the same day on charges including murder.
Mr. A is suspected of killing a woman in her 30s, Ms. B, and her mother, a woman in her 60s, Ms. C, at a villa in Namyangju at around 10 p.m. on the 20th. He is also accused of fleeing the scene with Ms. B’s 5-year-old son immediately after the crime.
It has been confirmed that Mr. A entrusted the child to his family home in Seocheon County, Chungnam, during his escape. Fortunately, the child’s health condition is reported to be normal.
A resident living in the same villa said in an interview with Yonhap News, "It seems the Chinese family moved in less than a month ago, so it is very shocking that such an incident happened."
Another resident who was out walking a dog said, "There is an elementary school right next to the building, and it is a really quiet and safe neighborhood, so who would be able to walk down this alley feeling scared?"
Earlier, at around 10 p.m. on the 20th, the police received a report saying "a friend’s safety is at risk," and upon arrival, they found the mother and daughter stabbed to death inside the villa. The deceased Ms. B was a naturalized Chinese citizen, and her mother Ms. C was a Chinese national.
