Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it is recruiting target households for the ‘Hope Home Repair Project,’ which provides free home repairs for low-income vulnerable households, until the 31st of this month.
The ‘Hope Home Repair Project’ is a program that improves the living environment by repairing wallpaper, flooring, sinks, and more within a limit of 2.5 million won per household for low-income vulnerable households. In the first half of the year, 18 households were supported.
Notably, this year the support amount has increased by 1.3 million won compared to last year, and the scope of construction items has expanded to include safety facilities such as fire, flood, and gas leak alarms, flood barriers, fire extinguishers, as well as ventilators and boilers.
Applicants must be owner-occupants or tenants living in ‘houses’ as defined by the Housing Act, with an income at or below 60% of the median income. Priority will be given to semi-underground households vulnerable to disasters and emergencies, and emergency households recommended by the local community centers. However, owner households receiving repair and maintenance benefits under housing benefits, those who have received home repair services from other agencies or private organizations, or those who have benefited from the ‘Hope Home Repair Project’ within the past three years (2021?2023) are excluded from eligibility.
The application period is until the 31st of this month, and applications can be submitted by visiting the local community center of the applicant’s address.
In addition, the district is recruiting applicants until August 21 for the ‘Youth Monthly Rent Temporary Special Support Project,’ which provides up to 200,000 won per month for a maximum of 12 months to reduce housing cost burdens for low-income youth households. Eligible applicants are homeless youth living separately from their parents, who meet the criteria of 100% or less of the median income for the original household and 60% or less of the median income for the youth household. Youth wishing to apply can do so via ‘Bokjiro’ or by visiting the local community center.
