Seoul National University Hospital announced on the 20th that it received a donation of 100 million KRW for low-income patients from Bae Jeong-cheol, the CEO of "Bae Jeong-cheol Eodo," on the 18th.
CEO Bae's support has continued for 24 years since 1999. With this year's donation, his cumulative contributions have reached 2.115 billion KRW. All donations have been used for the treatment costs of low-income patients at Seoul National University Hospital, and so far, 640 patients have received treatment using CEO Bae's donations.
CEO Bae, who runs the Japanese restaurant Bae Jeong-cheol Eodo in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, began donating in 1999 through his connection with Professor Kim Seok-hwa, the current chairman of the Hamchun Support Association. To help patients who gave up treatment due to financial difficulties, he collected donations of 1,000 to 2,000 KRW per customer. CEO Bae's family has also participated in the donations by collecting funds through part-time jobs and other means.
CEO Bae said, "The joy I feel from helping my neighbors is the driving force that allows me to work happily," adding, "I will continue to strive to share the support and grace I have received with the world."
