Gyeongnam National University, Awarded 'Best Institution' for 6 Consecutive Years in Regional and Industry Customized Workforce Training Project
Support for Worker Vocational Skill Development Training
The HRD Project Group at Gyeongnam National University recently received an S grade in the ‘2022 Regional and Industry Customized Workforce Training Project Performance Evaluation’ conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and implemented by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea.
With this, Gyeongnam National University has been selected as the best operating institution for six consecutive years since being named the top institution in the ‘Regional and Industry Customized Workforce Training Project’ in 2018, and will carry out government-supported projects for the next four years until 2026.
The ‘Regional and Industry Customized Workforce Training Project’ provides local companies with opportunities to train practical, customized talent, supports unemployed youth to become specialized technical personnel, and aims to create quality youth jobs by resolving companies’ chronic technical workforce shortages.
This evaluation assessed the 2022 project performance of regional and industry customized workforce training project operators through quantitative evaluation (70 points) and qualitative evaluation (30 points) based on ▲project execution capability ▲project operation ▲project results. Gyeongnam National University received an excellent S grade in all evaluation categories.
Kang Jae-gwan, Vice President for Industry-Academia Cooperation, stated, “The Gyeongnam National University HRD Project Group has been leading vocational competency development education for employees of promising small and medium-sized enterprises in the region since COVID-19,” adding, “We will do our best to strengthen the capabilities of workers and companies by providing early support for future innovative technologies through cooperation with local companies and industry-academia partnerships.”
Through the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s ‘Regional and Industry Customized Workforce Training Project,’ the Gyeongnam National University HRD Project Group conducted 41 paid training courses for 15 small and medium-sized enterprises over the past year, supporting 253 people in maintaining employment and enhancing job competencies.

Additionally, they have provided job competency enhancement education to 547 employees at 138 small and medium-sized enterprises, continuously supporting the competitiveness of local companies and the vocational development of workers.
