Fire at Hospital in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Prevented by Sprinkler System
The Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station announced on the 20th that a fire broke out at a hospital in the district, but the sprinkler system operated normally, minimizing significant damage.
According to the fire department, the fire occurred around 4:10 a.m. at a hospital located in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Since the fire happened during the early morning hours when people were in deep sleep, it could have led to severe casualties. However, prompt initial response and the proper functioning of the sprinkler system allowed the fire to be extinguished on its own, preventing major damage.
This fire is considered an exemplary case where the fire safety manager and related personnel properly maintained and managed the fire safety facilities, thereby preventing precious human casualties.
