On the 19th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, stating, "Tensions continue due to North Korea's persistent provocations," and emphasized, "In the complex Northeast Asian situation, confrontation is being emphasized over peace, and peace is even more desperately desired by the residents of Gyeonggi Province, who share the longest border with North Korea."
He continued, "Seventy years ago this July, the armistice agreement was signed, and (now) the war is only temporarily paused," and introduced, "Gyeonggi Province has received a complete copy of the Korean War Armistice Agreement from the Swiss delegation of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission in the form of a permanent loan."
He added, "Now, all visitors to the Imjingak 'Gallery Grieves' can see the armistice agreement from 70 years ago with their own eyes," and evaluated, "The copy of the armistice agreement kept by the Swiss delegation for 70 years is significant as it is the only 'complete version' including the agreement text and maps."
In particular, he noted, "Gyeonggi Province is the only place that possesses and exhibits both Volume 1 (English) and Volume 2 (English map) of the armistice agreement," and added, "I would like to express special thanks to the Swiss delegation of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission, who have worked together with Gyeonggi Province for 'greater peace.'"
