Facilities Damaged by Heavy Rain in Yeosu Receive Continued Support

31st Division Regional Defense Unit Leads Recovery Efforts

Korea Water Resources Corporation, Humans Korea, Samyang General Distribution Provide Daily Necessities Support

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that local support continues to pour in for elderly care facilities damaged by consecutive heavy rains.

On the 16th, a nursing hospital in Dolsan evacuated 54 patients to a nearby nursing hospital after soil from a mountain next to the building, weakened by prolonged rain, slid down.

Emergency restoration work followed, with the 31st Infantry Division’s Yi Sun-sin Brigade, Jeong Cheol Battalion, leading the recovery efforts as a local defense unit by installing sandbags and removing soil.

Additionally, essential supplies such as bottled water and wet wipes were provided to the elderly residents in the evacuation facility by Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, Korea Water Resources Corporation, Humans Korea, and Samyang General Distribution.

Lieutenant Colonel Ahn Ho-chan, the battalion commander, stated, “As a local defense unit embedded within the community, we will always maintain full readiness to be immediately deployed to assist citizens in any natural disaster.”

A city official said, “Thanks to the soldiers of the 31st Infantry Division, rapid restoration work was possible. We are grateful to everyone who did not overlook the difficulties in the region and offered help. The city will also do its utmost to prevent further damage and ensure thorough recovery efforts.”
