Support Pouring into the "Himnaeseyo Osong" Donation Account
"Cheer up, Osong."
On the 19th, a fundraising campaign is underway on an internet community with over 2,000 members from Osong-eup, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungbuk, to support the bereaved families of the underground underpass disaster and the flood victims.
By the morning of that day, about 90 people had participated in the fundraiser, raising approximately 2.8 million KRW. Community members left comments on the fundraising post such as "I sent a small amount. I hope it helps," and "I deposited in my child's name. I'm glad to be able to participate."
The fundraiser, which started on the 17th, was initiated by the community operator Shin Hyoseop (40). In a post on the community cafe on the 18th, Shin wrote, "On the 17th, I opened a donation account at Osong Nonghyup Bank to deliver funds to the bereaved families and flood victims of the Osong Gungpyeong underground underpass," adding, "The account holder is myself, Shin Hyoseop, and the seal is my daughter's. We will conduct a transparent and clean fundraising campaign."
Munhwa Ilbo reported that Shin said, "A great tragedy happened in Osong where I live, and I thought it could have happened to my family or close neighbors, so as a resident, I wanted to help and started this."
Shin also added, "Since this is a fundraiser conducted through a personal account, there were many cautious aspects, but thankfully, members are actively showing their willingness to participate."
Looking at the deposit details of the account Shin disclosed, one can see the warm hearts of Osong residents. Residents included encouraging messages for the flood victims with deposit names like 'Todak Todak' and 'Cheer up, Osong.' Small donations of 1,000 KRW, 5,000 KRW, 10,000 KRW, and 50,000 KRW reflect the collective spirit in the account records.
Shin said, "After starting the fundraiser, I felt warm-hearted realizing that not only I but all Osong residents share the pain of our neighbors and want to help. I am also grateful that people from Iksan in Jeonbuk and Gwangju in Gyeonggi-do have expressed their desire to participate and donated."
He continued, "Personally, my very lovely daughter was born two months ago, and I wanted to show her that there is a warm world. After the fundraiser ends, we plan to discuss with the members and donate to the places most in need."
Meanwhile, as help continues to pour in from all over the country for flood recovery, celebrities have also donated funds and urged people to support the restoration efforts.
