Hyundai Motor Company, Official Sponsor of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup
371 Vehicles Provided Including Ioniq 5 and Santa Fe
Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 19th that it will officially sponsor the FIFA Women's World Cup, held for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere.
This World Cup will take place from the 20th of this month to the 20th of next month across nine cities in Australia and New Zealand. Hyundai Motor will launch the "Goal of the Century" campaign alongside the opening. This campaign, which began in April last year, emphasized solidarity for creating a sustainable world during the Qatar World Cup. For this Women's World Cup, the theme is creating an inclusive world where everyone has equal opportunities and can showcase their talents.
First, on the 19th (local time), Hyundai held the opening ceremony of the special exhibition hall, the FIFA Museum, at the fan festival held at Tumbalong Park in Sydney, Australia. In collaboration with FIFA, the company constructed the FIFA Museum on the grounds of Tumbalong Park in Sydney under the theme "Rule the Ground: The Face of Women's Football."
Next, Hyundai will provide FIFA with 102 eco-friendly vehicles, including the Ioniq 5, Santa Fe Hybrid, and GV70 electric vehicles, as well as a total of 371 official tournament operation vehicles such as the Staria, Avante N, G80, and G70. These vehicles will be used for VIPs, referees, and staff transportation.
The operation vehicles provided this time will be used for VIPs, referees, and staff transportation. A real-time vehicle control service will also be operated for rapid response in case of vehicle breakdowns or accidents. Additionally, to address electric vehicle battery depletion, a mobile charging service (V2V charging) will be provided using a modified Ioniq 5 vehicle.
Hyundai has renewed its partnership with Common Goal to support the development of women's football beyond the World Cup stadiums. Common Goal is a non-profit organization that aims to solve contemporary social issues by uniting players, clubs, and brands through football. For the 2023 Women's World Cup, Hyundai and Common Goal will operate two CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programs: the "Global Goal 5 Accelerator" and "Festival 23."
A Hyundai Motor official stated, "Women's football is establishing its own domain and is prospering more than ever. Hyundai takes pride in having been on this journey with FIFA since 1999 and will continue to strive tirelessly for the development of women's football and a future where opportunities are equal for all."
