More than 1,300 vehicles have been reported damaged due to recent monsoon rains and heavy downpours.
According to the insurance industry on the 18th, from the start of the monsoon and heavy rains on the 27th of last month until 9 a.m. on the 18th, 1,355 cases of vehicle flood damage have been reported to non-life insurance companies such as Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance, and KB Insurance. The estimated damage amount has increased by 8.839 billion KRW compared to five days ago, reaching approximately 12.836 billion KRW.
In particular, the Chungbuk region, which recently experienced concentrated heavy rain, reported 199 cases of vehicle flood damage, resulting in an estimated loss of 2.07 billion KRW. Among these, in Osong-eup, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju, where a tragic flooding incident occurred in an underground road, 40 vehicles suffered flood damage, with estimated losses of 371 million KRW.
Additionally, vehicle flood damage cases were reported in the following order: Chungnam with 268 cases, Gyeonggi with 170 cases, Gyeongbuk with 130 cases, Gwangju with 121 cases, and Jeonbuk with 114 cases.

Each insurance company is providing customer support, including deferring premium payments. The Financial Supervisory Service has established a special consultation center to offer financial support counseling services and plans to visit flood-affected sites directly in the severely damaged regions of Gyeongbuk, Chungbuk, and Chungnam.
