Lee Jae-myung and Lee Nak-yeon Dinner Meeting 'Postponed Again'... "Until the Flood Damage Settles"
Meeting on the 19th Postponed Following the 11th
The dinner meeting between Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and former leader Lee Nak-yeon has been postponed once again due to weather conditions.
On the 18th, the Democratic Party informed reporters that "the dinner scheduled for the 19th between Leader Lee Jae-myung and former Leader Lee Nak-yeon has been postponed to focus on heavy rain preparedness and flood recovery."
The party leader's office explained regarding future plans, "As the flood damage continues, the meeting between the two leaders will be delayed for the time being until the flood damage is settled."
Lee Jae-myung and Lee Nak-yeon had planned to meet on the 11th, but that was also postponed due to weather conditions.

Although former Leader Lee visited the graves of former President Kim Dae-jung and former President Roh Moo-hyun, as well as Gwangju and had meetings with former President Moon Jae-in and others after his return, the meeting with Leader Lee Jae-myung, who had fiercely competed against him during the presidential election, did not materialize.
Initially, expectations within the party for this meeting were quite high. Kim Eun-kyung, chairperson of the Democratic Party Innovation Committee, expressed on MBC Radio, "I would be so happy if the two finish their dinner and come out arm in arm like close friends," adding, "In a situation where the people are suffering from flood damage and the economic situation is not good, if the two put their arms around each other, all their supporters will come forward and form a scrum." Kim Young-jin, a member of the National Assembly in charge of political coordination for Leader Lee Jae-myung, also expressed hope regarding the meeting through YTN Radio and others, saying, "I expect this to be an occasion where the former and current leaders of the Democratic Party unite and create a new future."
