Landslide Crisis Alert Level Raised to 'Severe'
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that it conducted an emergency inspection of major vulnerable facilities within the region, such as landslide risk areas and steep slopes, to prevent disaster accidents that may occur due to continuous heavy rain.
This emergency inspection was arranged to check drainage maintenance status, slope cracks and subsidence, tree toppling, and erosion on dangerous slopes in mountainous areas, following the upgrade of the nationwide landslide crisis alert level to 'Severe' except for Jeju Island.

View original imageOn the 16th, the city held an emergency countermeasure meeting and, along with issuing a landslide advisory, guided residents to refrain from outdoor activities around forests and to evacuate to safe places such as village halls and public institutions in case of landslide concerns.
In particular, an emergency inspection was conducted on 64 landslide-prone vulnerable areas with high risk of landslides, and evacuation orders were issued to residents in dangerous areas, resulting in the evacuation of 78 residents from 53 households.

Mayor Park Dongsik urged, “Residents in landslide-prone areas should pay close attention to emergency disaster messages and village broadcasts,” and added, “In times of crisis, please evacuate quickly to safe places such as village halls or public institutions.”
