Successful 5G Standalone Upload Experiment
Industry Expects Network Performance Improvement
Samsung Electronics has succeeded in increasing the speed of 5G standalone (SA) uploads by expanding from using two transmission antennas to three antennas.
According to Samsung Electronics Newsroom on the 17th, the company succeeded in testing 5G SA uplink using C-band uplink multiple antenna technology (MIMO) in collaboration with Taiwan's MediaTek.
As a result, it achieved a maximum processing speed of 363 Mbps, which the company explained is the highest uplink speed possible with three antennas.
The test was conducted at Samsung Digital City research facilities in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. It combined frequency aggregation technology for 5G SA uplink with C-band uplink multiple antenna technology.
Samsung Electronics expects not only upload speed but also overall network performance to improve.
A Samsung Electronics official explained, "Until recently, technical advances related to 5G SA mainly focused on downlink, but with increased activities such as live streaming, multiplayer gaming, and video conferencing, the importance of stable upload speeds is growing."
