According to Hyundai, the design inherits the first-generation Santa Fe's concept of connecting nature and the city, while optimizing it for urban and outdoor lifestyles.
The vehicle's exterior features a robust image with a boxy shape, a long wheelbase, and a wide tailgate that exudes a strong presence. A distinctive feature is the incorporation of an H-shaped design, reinterpreting the Hyundai emblem, applied throughout the vehicle. The 'H-Light' is a representative example, where the front connects the headlamps horizontally and lengthwise across the left and right sides.
The side profile is centered around a large tailgate. The roofline is boldly designed, and the wheel arches are sharp. The rear emphasizes a clean and solid image along with the H-Light.
The H-shaped design is also reflected on the front of the dashboard and the air vents. The seat patterns are inspired by the Hyundai logo, evoking the image of light radiating outward. Various features such as the panoramic curved display and the dual smartphone wireless charging, applied for the first time by Hyundai, showcase a high-tech and refined image.
The interior is generously designed for those who enjoy outdoor activities. Hyundai designed the layout emphasizing horizontal and vertical images to harmonize naturally with the exterior. A large tailgate with a terrace concept extends the sense of space and openness to the exterior. According to the company, folding down the second and third-row seats completely provides best-in-class interior space.
Another notable feature is the use of various eco-friendly materials. Materials incorporating recycled plastics were applied to the suede headliner, floor mats, and the back of the 2nd and 3rd-row seats. The crash pad and door trim covers use eco-friendly synthetic leather.
Lee Sang-yup, Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center, stated, “The new Santa Fe is an SUV that bridges everyday urban life with outdoor lifestyles such as car camping and camping.” He added, “Based on the terrace concept tailgate space, it reflects the SUV’s robustness and delicate customer experience to offer a premium lifestyle.”
