Safety Measures Ordered in Residential Area of Daejuk-dong, Jinhae-gu
Jo Myung-rae, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, took the lead by conducting an emergency safety inspection at the site of a landslide risk on the slope of a house in Daejuk-dong, Jinhae-gu.
On the 16th, Deputy Mayor Jo visited the site where evacuation measures were taken for nearby houses due to signs of soil erosion and falling rocks during heavy rain in Daejuk-dong, Jinhae-gu. He ordered the installation of safety facilities as soon as possible, including slope stabilization measures and the construction of an 8-meter-high, 25-meter-long retaining wall.

View original imageEarlier, Changwon Special City issued an evacuation order from the 15th to the 16th in accordance with Article 40, Paragraph 1 of the “Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety” to prepare for heavy rain until the order is lifted.
Accordingly, the city designated 55 evacuation sites, including the village hall in Wolgye-ri, Buk-myeon, Uichang-gu, for areas vulnerable to landslides and at risk of casualties, and urged residents to evacuate urgently.

Deputy Mayor Jo said, “Due to continuous rain, the ground has weakened, raising concerns about damage such as retaining wall collapse, stone terrace collapse, and landslides. With more than 250mm of rain forecasted, our city will strengthen on-site monitoring activities and take immediate action at sites at risk to ensure citizens’ safety by focusing administrative efforts. We ask all citizens to evacuate immediately to a safe place if any abnormal signs occur.”
