Park Soo-keun's 'Women on the Street' 400 Million Won... K Auction July Auction
A Total of 101 Pieces Worth 6.2 Billion Won Submitted
The late national painter Park Soo-keun's 'Women on the Street,' painted in the 1960s featuring market women, is set to be auctioned with an estimated price of 400 million to 700 million KRW. This work was created during the early 1960s when the artist continued to paint despite suffering from chronic illness, characterized by a simple yet densely composed style.
K-Auction announced on the 15th that it will exhibit a total of 101 works worth 6.2 billion KRW, including Park Soo-keun's pieces, at the K-Auction July auction held at its headquarters in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at 4 p.m. on the 26th.
In the Korean modern and contemporary art section, works by masters such as Kim Whanki, Lee Ufan, Jung Sang-hwa, Park Seo-bo, and Ha Chong-hyun will be featured, along with pieces by key Korean modern artists including Do Sang-bong, Lim Jik-soon, and Kwak In-sik.
Kim Whanki's New York period work 'VII-66' is estimated at 360 million to 500 million KRW, Kim Chang-yeol's 'Water Drops SH86810-86' at 70 million to 180 million KRW, Jung Sang-hwa's blue grid piece 'Untitled 84-1-2' at 400 million to 600 million KRW, Lee Ufan's 'Correspondence' at 400 million to 600 million KRW, Park Seo-bo's 'Myobeop No. 070905' at 200 million to 300 million KRW, and Ha Chong-hyun's 'Junction 97-022' at 180 million to 320 million KRW.
Additionally, works by pioneering Korean experimental artists who left their mark on Korean art history such as Lee Gun-yong, Kim Ku-rim, and Lee Kang-so will also find new owners. These include Kim Ku-rim's 'Eumyang 5-S. 92' (65 million to 130 million KRW), Lee Kang-so's 'From an Island-07368' (42 million to 90 million KRW), and Lee Gun-yong's 'Bodyscape 76-1-2019' (68 million to 120 million KRW).
Works by Do Sang-bong, Lim Jik-soon, Choi Wook-kyung, and Kwak In-sik also attract attention. Do Sang-bong's 'Still Life' (32 million to 80 million KRW), notable for its strong Eastern atmosphere despite typical Western painting techniques, and the female abstract painter Choi Wook-kyung's 'Untitled' (63 million to 80 million KRW), who passionately pursued art in a short life, will also seek new owners.
In international art, Yayoi Kusama's 'Watermelon' (900 million to 1.6 billion KRW) will be exhibited, along with Robert Indiana's 'Love (green/Blue)' (300 million to 400 million KRW) and Ayako Rokkaku's 'The Hair which Flutters' (200 million to 350 million KRW) slated for auction. Editions by Alex Katz, Yayoi Kusama, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, Julian Opie, and Damien Hirst, as well as photographs by Candida H?fer, will also be showcased.

The auction exhibits can be viewed free of charge without reservation at the K-Auction exhibition hall from the 15th until the auction day on the 26th.
