Yeongdeungpo-gu Develops Waterfront Park along Anyangcheon... Barefoot Walking Trail
Yeongdeungpo-gu to Develop Waterfront Park along Anyangcheon
Waterfront park to be created along 4.8km section from Sinjeonggyo Bridge to Han River Confluence starting July
Transforming into a distinctive waterfront environment with barefoot walking trails, dynamic sports zones, and river vegetation restoration
Becoming a connection of natural ecosystems and a high-quality healing spot... a vibrant living space
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Hogwon) is transforming Anyangcheon into a high-quality healing spot within the city. Reflecting residents’ demands, barefoot walking trails, foot washing stations, and dynamic sports zones will be created to add diverse attractions.
The district announced that starting in July, it will invest approximately 4.53 billion KRW to develop a waterfront park along about 4.8km from Sinjeonggyo Bridge to the Han River confluence of Anyangcheon.
Responding to residents’ requests for more resting spaces along Anyangcheon, the district will expand rest and community spaces that offer 'staying' and 'relaxation.' A barefoot walking clay trail, foot washing stations, and community spaces using decks will be created along the river embankment walking path. In particular, the barefoot walking clay trail will be a specialized path harmonized with the cherry blossoms along the river embankment, providing a space to promote health and create unique memories. The district will also establish resting spots with tree shade and vegetation at various points along the trail.
Additionally, the district will provide a dynamic sports zone for various outdoor activities in daily life. From Yanghwa Bridge to the Han River confluence, the walking path will connect sports facilities and an X-Games area. Areas damaged by the construction of the World Cup Bridge will be restored, and exercise facilities within the river will be secured.
The district will also remove invasive ecological plants such as kudzu vine and Western pokeweed growing in the riverbank green zones. Moisture-tolerant species like green light grass, patterned silver grass, and red ribbon grass will be planted to withstand flooding during the rainy season, and vegetation in damaged areas will be restored.
Green zones along the highly frequented walking and bicycle paths will be reborn as seasonal walking environments. The district will plant multi-layered trees throughout and install vegetation mats where soil is exposed to improve waterfront scenery and promote slope stabilization.
