Police Officer Fined 7 Million Won for Drunk Driving Accident
A police officer who caused a traffic accident while driving under the influence was fined.
According to the legal community on the 12th, the Gwangju District Court issued a summary order imposing a fine of 7 million won on Sergeant A, who was summarily prosecuted for violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Sergeant A was brought to trial on charges of drunk driving after hitting a parked vehicle on a road in Hwasun-eup, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, around 8:40 p.m. on March 21.
At the time, Sergeant A's blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.111%.
It is known that he caused the accident after driving about 1 km to return home following drinking with acquaintances.
A citizen who witnessed the accident reported it to the police, leading to the discovery of the drunk driving.
No significant casualties occurred as a result of the accident.
