Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, Attends 2023 Healing Refrigerator Operation Staff Pre-Education
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, Seoul, attended the '2023 Healing Refrigerator Operation Staff Pre-Education' held at the Nowon District Office auditorium at 2 p.m. on the 11th.
The 'Healing Refrigerator' is a representative heatwave countermeasure project of Nowon, first introduced by the district in 2020 and benchmarked by local governments nationwide. From July 17 to August 15, a total of 30 days, healing refrigerators will be placed along riversides and walking trails frequently visited by residents, and a volunteer disaster prevention group consisting of 210 volunteers will assist in the operation.
At the pre-education session, attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok, related department staff, and 210 members of the Nowon District Volunteer Disaster Prevention Group, the training covered the purpose of the Healing Refrigerator project, the operation period, operational guidelines for staff, heatwave safety rules for workers, and prevention of heat-related illnesses.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “According to a satisfaction survey conducted last August with 37,058 residents who used the Healing Refrigerator, 99.2% were satisfied,” and added, “I ask all members of the Volunteer Disaster Prevention Group to make efforts so that all residents can have a healthy and safe summer during this summer’s heatwave.”
